Good news, everyone! We have our first official in-universe tease for the Indominus rex! Check this out, it’s the first thing you see when you go on the official Jurassic World site. Hey, remember when JoBlo or someone said the I. rex was supposed to be “bigger, louder and with more teeth”?:
Wow, I thought she’d have a paddock, but apparently she’s the center of an arena attraction. Great job, science people. Excellent idea. Hear me clapping? That’s the sound of my appreciation for how that scenario has absolutely no way of ever, ever going wrong.
She has a profile, too!
Complete with a ‘VERY HIGH’ aggression index, she’s 40 feet long and has an interesting bio, to say the least. Take a seat:
We set out to make Indominus the most fearsome dinosaur ever to be displayed at Jurassic World. The genetic engineers at our Hammond Creation Lab have more than delivered. At first glance, Indominus most closely resembles a T. Rex. But its distinctive head ornamentation and ultra-tough bony osteoderms can be traced from Theropods known as Abeliosaurs. Indominus’ horns have been placed above the eye orbit through genetic material hybridized from Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops and Giganotosaurus. Fearsome indeed.
Indominus’ roar is estimated to reach 140-160db—the same as a 747 taking off and landing. And it can reach speeds of 30 mph…while confined to its enclosure. Come experience Indominus Rex for yourself beginning this summer. If you dare.
“At first glance, Indominus most closely resembles a T. rex.” Er, we’ve seen the leaked pictures, and this dinosaur might look like she has a T. rex for a reluctant uncle, but she’s not a dead ringer. Either they’re slightly delusional, they’re trying to appeal to their in-universe customers or even they know that absolutely no dinosaur will ever be cooler than T. rex in this franchise. Sorry, it’s just never gonna happen.
She has “distinctive head ornamentation”—it’s not a JP3 feather Mohawk, people, it’s a white JP3 feather mohawk—and “ultra-tough, bony osteoderms”. “Osteoderms” are basically scales, so wait, does she have super-tough skin? Could she be bulletproof or at least bullet-resistant? Someone please tell me she’s bulletproof!
Apparently she also has at least partial DNA from “Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops and Giganotosaurus” which I guess explains why everyone wanted Giganotosaurus to take a paternity test when the paper plate leaks came out. Also, I would like to note that she “can reach speeds of 30 mph…while confined to its enclosure”. While she’s confined to her enclosure. Hopefully they let the poor animal out for exercise sometime when there aren’t visitors gawking at her. That or, even in-universe, it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that she’ll break out at some point.
This is her official photo:
I assume she’s either camouflaging here or, yet again, the filmmakers have messed with this dinosaur as a result of leaks. (Just kidding, that’s very unlikely.) You know, it’s kind of sad, because this was obviously put together before the paper plate mess. It’s obvious that this picture was trying to create suspense and get us as hyped for this dinosaur as the “park visitors” were supposed to. Oh, well. Check out her teeth! They look like T. rex’s, sharp but just the right thickness to hold prey while she thrashes her head to kill it. Oh, and speaking of which:
That’s right, every once in a while she sits down and grows a fresh new set of mouth-knives. I gotta say, Indominus is really growing on me. (Can we nickname her Indy? I would really like if we could all get together and decide to nickname her Indy.) And here’s her tragic backstory:

Next news item: It’s happening, folks. It’s gonna go down. The dream is real. Fantasy has become reality. Dreams and the waking world have merged and are fluttering out of their collective cocoon. We are getting a trilogy-encompassing LEGO Jurassic Park video game:
LEGO Jurassic World
Following the epic storylines of Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III, as well as the highly anticipated Jurassic World, LEGO Jurassic World is the first video game where players will be able to relive and experience all four Jurassic films. The game will be available in June for the Xbox One, all-in-one games and entertainment system, the Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system, the Wii U™ system from Nintendo, Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system, and Windows PC.
How long have we been asking for this? Ten, eleven years? And it’s finally on the way! With all four movies in one! Personally, this is better than I expected and I’m very excited. I can’t wait to play through the final scene in the first movie, and the worker’s village from Lost World, and the aviary from JP3. Plus, this may or may not open up the possibility of LEGO sets from the first three movies. I’ve been campaigning for a Lost World trailer set for a while now. Finally, Jake Johnson did an interview about Jurassic World. Here’s what he had to say:
“That’s the question I haven’t gotten, is actually how easy it was between action and cut, because they’re my friends. We’ve worked together. We were here at Sundance. We had this indie we made for $600,000, and then we’re on that set, so everything, from going through hair and makeup, to wardrobe, to walking on these enormous sets, was so weird. And then, when Colin calls quiet, it’s just, ‘Oh, right. Now I’m just doing Derek and Colin‘s words.’ Colin‘s at the monitor going, ‘Got it.’ (Chris) Pratt is so good in it and he’s so easy to work with. Bryce (Dallas Howard) is so good, it was a really fun one.”
So it was easy between shooting scenes, and Colin Trevorrow is good at working with his actors. That doesn’t tell us much about the movie, but at least we know it won’t be a Shining situation where the director terrorizes the cast to get the reaction he needs. So that’s nice. Another tidbit:
…joking that he is murdered before the movie starts and that his character is “all back story”
“Joking”, huh? BUT HOW DO YOU KNOW HE’S JOKING. HOW CAN YOU KNOW FOR SURE. #conspiracy
We did get one little detail:
He did add that his character’s name is Lowery
So the character has either an Irish last name or parents that would do a thing like name their child Lowery.

That’s it for now, but I expect we’ll get some news from the Masrani site soon. Now that I. rex has dropped, I suspect that viral advertising has just started to get good.
